General Questions

Why is a developer account necessary for my app?

All merchants who wish to publish an iOS/Google Play app are required to enroll in the Apple/Google Developer programs.

What if I don’t set up my developer accounts?

Without properly setting up your developer accounts, we will be unable to publish your app or submit any ensuing updates.

Apple Requirements to Enroll:

Should I enroll as an individual or organization?

You MUST enroll as an organization in order for us to publish your mobile app.

If your company is a corporation (Corp., Inc.), limited liability company (LLC, LC, Ltd. Co.), or a legal entity (GmbH, AG, KG, oHg, etc.), you must enroll as an organization or your app will be rejected.

Having an organizational membership with the Apple Developer Program gives you several advantages. For example, your company brand name will appear below the app name in the App Store, and you can invite additional developers to your team within your account.
What do I need to enroll as an organization?

How Does the Enrollment Work (After I have completed the verification call)?

When enrolling as an organization, you can review the license agreement and purchase a membership after Apple Developer Support has verified your enrollment and sent you an email with the next steps. You can check your enrollment status in your Apple Developer Program. Be sure to sign in with the Apple ID you used to enroll.

Apple ID

What is an Apple ID?

Your Apple ID is the account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and more. And you can sign in to all Apple services with a single Apple ID and password.

Can I use my existing Apple ID to enroll in the developer program?

You only need one Apple ID to access all Apple services. Before you create a new Apple ID, consider whether it might be better to continue using one you already have. Remember that you might not be able to move data or purchases from an old Apple ID to a new one.

If you aren't sure if you already have an Apple ID, we can help you find it. Even if the email address that you use to sign in to Apple ID has changed, you can keep the same Apple ID.

Do I Need to Create a New Apple ID?

We recommend using an email address that multiple people in the company can access, such as your support or info email. If you don't have a company email address, please create one first. Create Your Apple ID

Should it be an Apple ID for My Course or a Personal One?

We recommend using an email address that multiple people in the company can access, such as your support or info email. If you don't have a company email address, please create one first.

What if I Forget My Apple ID Password?

If you forgot your Apple ID password, use these steps to reset it and regain access to your account:
  1. Your Apple ID is the account that you use for everything you do with Apple, like when you shop the iTunes Store, sign in to iCloud, buy an app, and more. To reset your password, you need to know the email address for your Apple ID. Don’t know the email address for your Apple ID?
  2. Reset your password
    1. Instructions vary based on the type of security that you use for your Apple ID. For example, if you're asked to confirm your phone number, use steps for two-factor authentication. Choose the type that you use:
      1. Two-factor authentication
      2. Email, password and security questions
      3. Two-step verification
    2. If you still can't sign in with your Apple ID and password, make sure that you entered the correct Apple ID. In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account.
    3. If these steps didn't help you change your password, contact Apple Support.

What if I can't access a trusted device or didn't receive a verification code?

If you're signing in and don’t have a trusted device handy that can display verification codes, you can have a code sent to your trusted phone number via text message or an automated phone call instead. Click Didn't Get a Code on the sign-in screen and choose to send a code to your trusted phone number. You can also get a code directly from Settings on a trusted device.

If you use iOS 11.3 or later on your iPhone, you might not need to enter a verification code. In some cases, your trusted phone number can be automatically verified in the background on your iPhone. It’s one less thing to do, and your account is still protected with two-factor authentication.

Do I still need to remember any security questions?

Yes, you may need to reference these if you forget your account username and/or password.

Can Apple Support help me regain access to my account?

Yes, contact Apple Support if you are having any trouble accessing your account.

What are the system requirements for two-factor authentication?

For the best experience, make sure that you meet these system requirements on all of the devices you use with your Apple ID:
-iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9 and later
-Mac with OS X El Capitan and iTunes 12.3 and later
-Apple Watch with watchOS 2 and later
-Apple TV (4th generation) with tvOS
-Windows PC with iCloud for Windows 5 and iTunes 12.3.3 and later

What if I don’t recognize the location shown in my sign in notification?

When you sign in on a new device, you’ll get a notification on your other trusted devices that includes a map showing the approximate location of the new device. This is an approximate location based on the IP address the device is currently using, rather than the exact location of the device. The location shown might reflect the network you're connected to, and not your physical location.

If you know you’re the person trying to sign in but you don’t recognize the location shown, you can still tap Allow and continue signing in. However, if you ever see a notification that your Apple ID is being used to sign in on a new device and you're not the one signing in, tap Don’t Allow to block the sign in attempt..

What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.

Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll for two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require higher security.

Is two-factor authentication different than Apple’s current two-step verification feature?

Yes. Two-factor authentication is built directly into iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and Apple’s web sites. It uses different methods to trust devices and deliver verification codes, and offers a more streamlined user experience. You need two-factor authentication to use certain features that require improved security.

The older two-step verification feature continues to work separately for users who are already enrolled.

Program Roles and App Store Connect Roles

What is a team agent?

When you enroll in the Apple Developer Program, Apple Developer Enterprise Program, or iOS Developer University Program, you automatically become the Team Agent for your account. If you’re enrolled as an organization, you have the option of adding additional developers to your team.

Can I change the Team Agent for our account down the road?

Yes, you can change the Team agent by going to https://itunesconnect.apple.com/access and adding a new team agent and transferring the administrator account role. You can also contact Apple Support if you are having any trouble accessing your account

DUNS Number

What is a DUNS Number?

The D-U-N-S Number is a unique nine-digit number that identifies business entities on a location-specific basis. Assigned and maintained by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), the D-U-N-S Number is widely used as a standard business identifier.

Your D-U-N-S Number will be used to check the identity and legal entity status of your organization as part of our enrollment verification process for joining the Apple Developer Program or the Apple Developer Enterprise Program. While many types of businesses can receive a D-U-N-S Number, your business must be recognized as a legal entity (e.g., a corporation, limited partnership, limited liability company) to enter into the legal terms and obligations of Apple Developer Program agreements. DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, and branches are not accepted.

Companies and educational institutions must provide a D-U-N-S Number registered to their legal entity, while a D-U-N-S Number is optional for government organizations. If you are enrolling as an individual, you do not need a D-U-N-S Number.

Why do we need a DUNS Number?

The DUNS Number is Apple's way of identifying your facility and confirming the app you are submitting is legitimate.

What if I can't find my DUNS Number?

If your company is not listed, you can submit your information to Dun & Bradstreet for a free D-U-N-S Number. You will be asked for the following information when requesting a D-U-N-S Number using the D-U-N-S Number lookup tool:
-Legal entity name
-Headquarters address
-Mailing address
-Your work contact information
As part of their verification process, a D&B representative may contact you for more information (e.g., type of business, the number of employees). Please have your business registration documents ready.

How can I find my DUNS Number?

Click the following links to access the DUNS lookup tool for your country or region:
  1. United States DUNS lookup
  2. Canada DUNS lookup

Your organization must be a legal entity so that it can enter into contracts with Apple. We do not accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, or branches. The DUNS number will provide enough information to prove your entity.

What if our business doesn’t have a DUNS Number?

If your business does not have a DUNS number, you must first enroll for one by visiting the Dun & Bradstreet website and following the on-screen steps.
Need help with this step? Give us a call at 858-869-1381

What if our business’ DUNS Number information is incorrect or needs updating?

During enrollment I received the message, "Your organization is not listed as a legal entity." What does this mean?
The business you entered is either listed in the D&B database with a different legal status (e.g., sole proprietorship), or its legal status has not been verified. When enrolling, make sure to use the legal entity name of your organization, as Apple does not accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names, or branches for enrollment as a company/organization. If you believe your business should be listed as a legal entity, have your business registration documents ready and email D&B. Complete business registration documents are required to verify your organization’s legal status.

How long do I need to wait if my DUNS number needs updating?

14 days

How long do I need to wait if my business does not have a DUNS?

30 days (unless you pay to speed it up)

Two-Factor Authentication

If you need to walk through Apple's two-factor authentication process, click this link to view our knowledge base article for step-by-step instructions.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your Apple ID designed to ensure that you're the only person who can access your account, even if someone knows your password.

What do I need to complete Two-Factor Authentication?

A trusted Apple device such as an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9 and later, or a Mac with OS X El Capitan and later that you've already signed in to using two-factor authentication. It’s a device we know is yours and that can be used to verify your identity by displaying a verification code from Apple when you sign in on a different device or browser.

What happens if the contact associated with my developer account no longer works for our business?

We will be able to transfer the Apple ID associated with the account as well as remove the contact. This will require a call with Apple.

If I choose to use my own device, what needs to happen when I log out?

You will need to remember your Apple ID and password, along with saving a copy of your data.

Will I lose all the information on my phone if I use it for my developer account setup?

No- so long as you saved a copy of your data to iCloud before you logged out at the beginning of the process.

Enrollment

I have all the required steps in-hand. Where can I go to complete enrollment?

Is enrollment instantaneous?

No, once you have successfully enrolled, Apple will take a few days to review before giving you a call to verify.

I missed my call from Apple. How can I get in-touch with them to complete enrollment?

Apple will leave a call back number. If you did not get a message, please contact Apple Support and reference your enrollment ID.

What do I do after my call with Apple?

Complete the steps that have been sent from Apple to the email address associated with your developer account. This process will include submitting your annual Apple developer program license fee. Following that, please grant Gallus Golf administrator access and we will take it from there.

Apple is asking me for money to complete my enrollment. Do I really have to pay $99 annually?

The Apple Developer Program membership is $99 per membership year in the United States and 99€ in Europe. This cost is the same for an individual membership and an organizational membership.

To provide a long-standing app, you must renew and pay for your membership every year.

Google

Where do I need to go to set up my Google Play developer account?

Why do I need a Google Play Developer Account?

In compliance with Google's distribution agreement, all merchants who wish to publish an Android app are required to register for a Google Play Developer account under their own company name.

Should I use my personal Google account to set this up?

What if the person that set up our developer account leaves their position with the course?

Do I really have to pay $25 for my developer account?

Granting Gallus Golf Access to Google & Apple

What kind of access will Gallus Golf have to my developer account?

Granting Gallus Golf admin access will enable us to submit your app and perform any necessary updates on your behalf.

What will be required on my part once access has been granted to Gallus Golf?

You will be required to pay an annual license fee to Apple and accept/review any changes to Apple's developer account license agreement.

Ongoing Maintenance

I just got an email from Apple stating their license agreement has been updated. What does that mean?

Apple periodically makes changes to their terms and conditions and to ensure you have taken the time to accept them, they prevent your app from being updated until you do.
