How The Home Screen Works

How The Home Screen Works

This article will provide detail on setting up an app's Home Screen, which is the page that displays when an app is initially opened.

Home Screen Layouts

When designing the home screen for your app, you must first decide between two layouts. They are as follows:

Background Image

Option number one is a Background Image, which looks like the photo at the top of this article. It consists of one background image and buttons that have a grey background.

Uploading A New Background Image

  1. Log into your admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Theme page by clicking Basic Setup (left side of the page) --> Theme.
  3. Next to Background Image click Choose File, then select your image.

  4. Click Update. (The preview on the right and at the bottom of the page should change automatically.)
  5. If you're happy with the preview, send an email to support@gallusgolf.com stating the name of your app and that you'd like to update the background image.

NOTE: An update needs to be submitted by the Gallus Golf team for a background image change. Make sure to notify us so we can get the 4-7 day approval process started.

Updating Layout From Tiles To Background Image

  1. Log into your admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Theme page by clicking Basic Setup (left side of the page) --> Theme.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Background Image, then Update.

NOTE: This change will take place immediately in your app (no formal update submission is necessary).

Tiles

Option number two is the Tiles layout, which has a background photo for each Home Screen button and a white background for the rest of the page.

Uploading Background Images For Buttons

  1. Log into your admin dashboard.
  2. Click the tile marked Home Screen.
  3. Select the button you'd like to edit.
  4. On the ensuing page, click Change image.
  5. Either select a picture from the menu that appears or click Or, upload your own image, then select a photo from your computer.
  6. Click Save.

NOTE: This process will change the picture for only the button you selected in step 3. This change does NOT require an update to be submitted.

  4. Fill out the next page as follows:
    1. Text: What you'd like the button text to be on the Home Screen.
    2. Picture: *Only needs to be added for Tiles layout.* What you'd like the background image to be.
    3. Action: Choose between:
      1. Website Link: Put a url from any webpage to frame it in your app.
      2. Custom Button Folder: For more on this, check out our article on Adding A Side Menu Folder. To have a Home Screen button that links to a folder, you must first follow the steps to add the folder in the Side Menu and then follow this list to link it up.
