How Rewards Only Memberships Work
What is Rewards Only Membership?
A Rewards Only Membership allows customers to purchase a set of rewards — like a 5-round package — and then purchase them again. Unlike standard memberships or subscriptions that has an expiration date before you can purchase again, a Rewards Only Membership does not expire. The rewards themselves, however, can be set to never expire, expire on a specific date, or expire on an interval (e.g., one year after purchase).
Why It's Important
This membership gives courses a flexible way to sell repeatable packages without requiring customers to purchase a membership that requires it to expires before it can be purchased again. It's ideal for high-frequency offerings like prepaid round bundles or range packages, where the goal is ongoing customer engagement rather than a time-limited commitment.
Set Up Instructions
Setting up a Rewards Only Membership follows the same set up steps as a one-time membership with no expiration date, with one key difference: toggling on Rewards Only.
Visit How to Set Up a Membership or Subscription to create a Membership first.
- After the basics of your Membership have been created (Name, Image, Preview Text, Description, Legal) and you hit Save
- Scroll down to the bottom and toggle on Rewards Only — this means the membership will expire as soon as it's purchased
- Click Save
- Now this is a Rewards Only Membership
- Add your Price and make sure to set the Membership to Never Expires
- Add Rewards — set each reward to Never expire, expire on a Specific Date, or expire on an Interval
- Toggle Visible in App and hit Save when ready to launch
- As Customers Purchase; you'll need to remove the automatic 'active' filter since these purchases are Expired
User Experience
Step-By-Steps
- Customer opens your app
- Customer must either log in or create an account to purchase
- Customer can navigate to your Membership list or Membership Card on the Home Screen, or your Side Menu or Footer Menu item (basically wherever you have added access to Memberships and Subscriptions your customer can navigate to it!)
- Customer can tap to Join Now or Learn More (where they can tap Purchase)
- Customer completes the purchase process
- Customer will end up on the My Card screen (it will most likely be empty) but Rewards are applied immediately
- Customer can use Back Arrow to navigate to Home Screen; Rewards alert should display
- Customer taps into Rewards Card on Home Screen, Side Menu or Footer Menu item (wherever you have added access to Rewards) and can now see their Reward(s)
- Customer can go back to this same Membership and instantly purchase again

Can a customer purchase the membership more than once?
- Yes — that's the core purpose of the Rewards Only Membership. Even if rewards are not all used, they can repurchase.
Does the membership expire?
- No. The membership itself does not expire, but individual rewards can be configured to expire.
When should I use a Rewards Only Membership vs. a Membership or a Subscription?
- Use Rewards Only when you're selling a repeatable package (e.g., rounds, range buckets) rather than access tied to a time period.
