How The Monthly Tournament Series Works

How The Gallus Monthly Tournament Series Works

Before You Begin

Make sure you have an adequate understanding of the Scorecard & GPS by reading our How The Virtual Caddie Works article.

What's The Point?

Users of your app are constantly looking for ways to interact with each other. One of the most creative ways to do so is the Gallus Monthly Tournament Series (MTS). There are two aspects of the MTS: an app-level scoring competition and a friendly competition between players and apps across the Gallus Golf ecosystem.

Both scoring styles are designed to encourage users to keep coming back, as the more they play the better their score gets.

How Does It Work?

There are two scoring formats in the Gallus Monthly Tournament Series (outlined below). They alternate each month to keep the competition fresh and exciting. Users simply use the app to keep score during each round (starting a scorecard is all they need to do to join). Their score is automatically calculated at the end of each month, and the top 100 golfers on the Worldwide Leaderboard will earn $10 towards a purchase at GolfBalls.com!

Scoring Format 1: Best Ball

Users simply use the app to keep score during each round they play (starting a scorecard is all they need to do to join). The app will take their best score on each hole in that given month to grant a best ball score for that month.

Scoring Format 2: Modified Stableford

Users simply use the app to keep score during each round (starting a scorecard is all they need to do to join). Their score on each hole earns them anywhere from 0 to 50 points, dependent on their score:
  1. Double Eagle: 50 points
  2. Eagle: 40 points
  3. Birdie: 30 points
  4. Par: 20 points
  5. Bogey: 10 points
  6. Double Bogey +: 0 points
Every round played in that month by a given user is eligible to be added to their aggregate monthly score.
