Creating A New Event In The Gallus Tournament Software

Before You Begin

Make sure you have an adequate understanding of the Gallus Tournament Software by reading our Tournament Software Basics article.

What's The Point?

In order to run an event in the Gallus Tournament Software, its framework must first be created. This article will outline all of the options on the tournament setup page to ensure the event is properly created.

Steps To Complete

Now that we have an understanding of what the goal is on tournament day, let's explore setting up a tournament in the Gallus Admin Dashboard.
  1. From the Quick Start page, click Events.

  2. Click Create in the top-right.

  3. Enter all of the framework of your event:
    1. Name: The name of the event.
    2. Competitors and Team Game: What type of tournament and scoring style will this tournament be. (Note that all of these can be gross scoring, net scoring, or both. Handicap Allowance can be applied if necessary (click here for more info).)
      1. Teams
        1. Scramble
        2. 1 Best Ball
        3. 2 Best Ball
        4. 3 Best Ball
        5. Alternate Shot
      2. Individuals
        1. Stroke
        2. Stableford (only a Standard Stableford format is currently supported)
          1. 6 points – Four strokes under 
          2. 5 points – Three strokes under 
          3. 4 points – Two strokes under 
          4. 3 points – One stroke under 
          5. 2 points – Level par
          6. 1 point – One stroke over 
          7. 0 points – Two strokes or more over
        3. Match Play
      3. Teams and Individuals
        1. Best Ball with either
          1. Stroke
          2. Standard Stableford
    3. Rounds: Enter the information for the day/time of your round(s)
      1. Date: Select a day
      2. Start Time: When will the event begin
      3. Course: Which course will be used for scoring
      4. Tee: Which tee box will the players be using?

        1. NOTE: Must select only one tee box per round. 
      5. Start Type:
        1. Shotgun
        2. Tee TIme
      6. Once finshed, click Add.
      7. Either continue adding rounds using the steps above (if you have more than one) or click I'm done adding rounds
    4. Logo: Upload a tournament logo
      1. Appears in print materials, leaderboards, etc.
      2. NOTE: Can be either JPEG or PNG format 
    5. Sponsor Logo: Upload a sponsor logo
      1. Appears in print materials, leaderboards, etc.
      2. NOTE: Can be either JPEG or PNG format 
    6. Rules: Any necessary rules for the event
      1. NOTE: Anything entered here will appear in the Player Handout- Click HERE to view our article on print materials.

  4. Click Continue
  5. A new page will open with multiple steps. They are color-coded based on need:
    1. Red: Something is missing and the tournament will not appear in the app until information is added (i.e., there are no players entered)
    2. Yellow: No information is entered, but the tournament can still run (i.e., no flights have been set up)
    3. Green: The category has information entered and it will not prevent the tournament from running

  6. Now you are ready to get the information entered in (see the Methods of Entry section in our Tournament Software Basics article).
