How Custom Folders Works

Overview

Organize your app content your way. With Custom Folders, you can create flexible, folders pages that link to app pages, external URLs, or even another custom folder — making your app easy to navigate and uniquely yours. Formerly called App Nav, Custom Folders, gives you control over how your content is grouped, organized and displayed.

When & Why to Use Custom Folders

  1. Group similar content (e.g., membership, leagues, events) in a custom folder 
  2. Link to that Custom Folder from your Home Screen, Side Menu or Footer Menu

  1. Create custom folders and add content (link to app page, url or another folder) 
  2. Edit custom folders to add, remove or modify existing content
  3. Access and link to your custom folders on your Home Screen, Side Menu or Footer Menu

Step-by-Step: Creating Custom Folders

🌐 Step 1: Log in to Gallus Manager

  1. Log in to the Gallus Manager Dashboard
  2. Click on Custom Folders under Customize App

🎨 Step 2: Create a Custom Folder

Custom Folders is the updated version of App Nav. You'll notice some visual differences as this focuses on creating/editing Custom Folders and your Home Screen, Side Menu and new Footer Menu are managed in Design Your App. 
  1. Click the green “+” button in the upper right-hand corner of the Custom Folders panel.
    1. This will open the folder creation popup, where you'll 
      1. Name your folder (Page Title) = Button Label
      2. Hit SAVE
  1. Your Custom Folder will be created! 
  2. Inside the Custom Folder, click the green "+" button to add a new content item
  1. You'll see three options for what type of content you can create in the custom folder: 
    1. 🔗 OpenApp Page - Direct customers to existing content in your app (page, news item, leaderboard)
    2. 🌐 External URL - Direct customers to an external website (e.g., website, booking engine, or menu) 
    3. 📁 Custom Folder - Nest custom folders to take customers to additional content not applicable for the first page. 
  2. Your content is broken down into:
    1. Image (optional)
    2. Button Label or Card Title (required)
    3. Card Description (optional)
  3. Action fields based on your initial selection - Open App Page, External Link, Custom Folder 
  4. Hit SAVE to create your content

  1. Repeat this process to build out your custom folder with as many content items as you need

Pro Tip: Choose a visually engaging image that helps customers know what content they could be clicking into!  
  1. Use that content on your Home Screen, Side Menu or Footer Menu! 
    1. Action Type: Select Link to App Page,
    2. App Page: Select Custom Folder
    3. Page Item: Select the Folder Name you just created
    4. Hit SAVE!


Step-by-Step: Editing Custom Folders

🌐 Step 1: Log in to Gallus Manager

  1. Log in to the Gallus Manager Dashboard
  2. Click on Custom Folders under Customize App

🎨 Step 2: Edit a Custom Folder

  1. Find your Custom Folder either by searching items for key words that you used for the Folder Name
  2. Or manually scroll and find the folder you wish to edit
  1. Click on the custom folder to open up the popup window to edit your items
  1. Click on the content item you wish to edit or click on the green "+" button if you wish to add more content to nested custom folder

  1. Once on the content item you can modify your image, update text, change your action
  2. Remember to hit
    1. SAVE if you wish to save your edits,
    2. DELETE if you wish to delete this content item
    3. CANCEL if you don't want to save your edits
  3. Click on each content item to make changes until you're done!
