How Tournament Flights Work

Before You Begin

Make sure to have an adequate understanding of the Gallus Tournament Software by reading our Tournament Software Basics article.

What's The Point?

When running a tournament or competition within the Gallus Tournament Software, a subgroup of players within the event may need their own Leaderboard. In order to accomplish this, Tournament admins will need to set up Flights. These are essentially a competition within a competition.

Admin Setup Tutorial


Getting To The Flights Editor

  1. Log into the Gallus Admin Dashboard.
  2. On the Quick Start page, click Events.

  3. On the Tournaments page, select the tournament you'd like to edit.

  4. Once on the tournament checklist page, select the step marked Flights.

Adding A Flight Automatically By Criteria

  1. Click Add Flight.

  2. Enter the following information:

      1. Name of the flight.
      2. Gender.
        1. Male or Female (Both)
        2. Male
        3. Female
  3. Click the box next to Find participants to add to flight.

  4. Enter the following information:
      1. Flight Create Type (choose between Handicap or Score).
        1. Handicap: Choose a range of Handicaps to be included.

            1. The fields support a range from -4 (which is actually a plus-4 index) through 50.
        2. Score: Choose a range of scores to be included after the event has concluded.

          1. Score Format
            1. Gross
              1. Takes gross scores into account.
            2. Net
              1. Takes net scores into account.
            1. The Score Range fields automatically display the min/max scores in relation to par inputted for the event you're editing. It's best to create this type of flight after the event and input scores within the starting range given by the system.
  5. Click Add to save your work.

LAST STEP: Now that the flight has been created, make sure to verify the proper leaderboard was added in the Leaderboards step. (Otherwise scoring for the flight will not appear anywhere.)

Adding A Flight Manually

After completing steps 1-2 above...
  1. Click Add.

  2. Click the flight name towards the bottom of the page.

  3. On the next page, click Add Team or Add Player (dependent on the tournament's scoring style).

  4. Begin typing in the team/individual you'd like to add. As long as they've been added to the tournament previously, they will appear as an autofill below. Click their name and then Add.


  5. Continue adding players/teams as necessary.

LAST STEP: Now that the flight has been created, make sure to verify the proper leaderboard was added in the Leaderboards step. (Otherwise scoring for the flight will not appear anywhere.)
