The Side Menu gives you the flexibility to include additional navigation to your app — or keep things streamlined by turning it off entirely. With the App Studio – Side Menu tool, you can add helpful links like Policies, Contact Info, About Us, and more — or disable the side menu if you'd prefer to focus attention on the Home Screen and Footer Menu.
When & Why to Use Side Menu
Share extra information that doesn't belong front and center on your home screen
Keep your app layout clean while still offering quick access to key information and content
Provide a minimalist experience by hiding the menu entirely (just toggle all items off)

Step-by-Step: Designing Your Side Menu
🔔 Before You Start
Heads Up: Some apps launch without a Side Menu — and that’s perfectly fine! But if you'd like to include extra details that don’t quite fit on your Home Screen (like course policies or FAQs), you can easily build out your Side Menu using the layout builder.
From the Quick Start page, click App Studio OR under Customize App, click Side Menu
This will open the App Studio - Side Menu in a new tab window.
🧠 Step 2: Understanding Items
Items are the building "blocks" of your side menu and link to single pieces of content. You can add your own Items, and take advantage of Prebuilt Items to save some time.
What are Prebuilt Items?
Look for the ⭐️ star icon — these prebuilt items are tied to specific app features. You can still customize their labels and visibility giving you some control. Learn more about how Prebuilt Items work!
What are Items?
Items are single pieces of content in your Side Menu. They can link to an App Page, Website, Phone Number, or Email Address.
Let's break down an Item:
Field Name
What You Can Do
Label
This is what your customers will see in your Side Menu. Required.
Action Type
What happens when someone taps the item:
Link to App Page
Link to URL
Link to Tel
Link to Email
Required.
Start Date / End Date
Set when the item appears (and when it disappears). Optional.
