How League Groups Work

How League Groups Work

Before You Begin

Make sure to have an adequate understanding of the Gallus Leagues Software by viewing our League Software Basics article.

What's The Point?

Groups (sometimes known as Pairings) are the starting tee times or hole assignments for players or teams in a League. Without Group assignments, League rounds cannot run as players need a hole to start on in the app.
This feature (and the need to set up Groups) will soon go away as we'll be adding the ability for users to set up their own groups in the app. Stay tuned for more updates as the 2023 season approaches.

Navigating To The Groups Section

  1. Log into your Gallus Admin Dashboard.
  2. On the Quick Start Page, click Events.

  3. Click Leagues in the top-right of the page.

  4. Select the League you'd like to set up Groups for.

  5. On the League checklist page, click Groups.

Steps To Complete

Groups can either be generated automatically (easiest) or manually inputted (most granular level of control). Read through the different sections below to gain an understanding of each method.

Auto-Generating Groups

  1. Select the round you'd like to set up Groups for via the dropdown in the top-left.

  2. Click Auto-Generate.

  3. For Shotgun Starts, input the following information:

      1. Teams/Players per group
        1. The number of teams or players that will be included in each Group.
      2. Max groups per hole
        1. The maximum number of Groups that can start off on a hole (choose from 1-3).
      3. Starting Positions
        1. Select the number of Groups that will start off on each hole.
        1. This is a handy feature for pace of play. Many facilities limit Par 3's to one Group to ensure a steady pace from the outset.
      4. Grouping preference
        1. The order in which players should be grouped automatically. Choose from the following:
          1. Name
          2. Handicap
          3. Score
          4. Random
      5. Order
        1. For the previous Grouping preference field, should it be ascending or descending?
  4. For Tee Time Starts...

      2. Mins between groups
        1. The number of minutes separating each tee time.

      4. Grouping preference
